Your Best Dressed Body (Inverted Triangle/Wedge Woman)
There are many different body shapes and sizes out there. And depending on your particular body type, one should know what to wear to make their body look its best; male or female. Because there are a number of body types per gender it will take time to cover them all, so stay tuned to learn about yours.
This week will cover the Female Inverted Triangle Body. As an Inverted Triangle Female your upper body is proportionately larger than lower, with a large bust and wide back, and generally slender hips and flat bum. With that said, the task at hand is to balance your wider upper body with your slender lower body and accentuate your shapely legs.
Items that should be included in wardrobe selections, when it comes to tops, should include V-necks, tops that are nipped or banded at the waist and/or flared at the hips to name a few. Selected tops should be on the darker side of the colour scheme to narrow your shoulders. V-neck or scoop neck tops should be deep to create a narrowing effect. For an enhanced effect layer a dark colour v/scoop neck top with a light coloured jacket/blazer. Keeping with the dark and light contrast, alternate to a light coloured shawl or slight cowel collared top with a dark jacket with hip pocket enhancements. Some wrap style tops may also be a good choice, especially those that have a bit of a flare near the hips.
When it comes to selecting bottoms and dresses, consider bright colours to draw attention to your slender waist and hips. Pants with embellished pockets and cargo pants should also be wardrobe considerations. Your pant selections should be of the wide leg and bootcut variety to add a bit of width to your bottom half. A-frame dresses and skirts, including flounced dresses and ballerina skirts, should make the wardrobe cut as well. Feel free to play with the lengths of the dress and skirt selections to show off your best asset, your shapely legs. But of course you don't want to go too short, you're a dignified lady, remember.
The point of putting together the mentioned wardrobe varieties is to distract from you wider upper body, Inverted Triangle, by drawing attention to your slim lower body. Doing this creates a balance that resembles the sought after, by many but not everyone, Hourglass female figure. Granted, some Inverted Triangles are more pronounced than others, so adjust accordingly to create those hourglass lines, if that is the look you're going for.
And of course, once you've made your flattering wardrobe selections, be sure to take your new look to the next level. Visiting your favorite Tailor will ensure that your items fit perfectly and have you looking your absolute best.
Be sure to enjoy the journey while creating your own unique style!
